How to make acid basslines

In this video I demonstrate how to create an acid bassline with as many as 8 different synths:

This includes basic patch, full track mix tips as well as a variety of sound design variations for all subtractive synths that I own.

Yep, hard acid basslines are a commonplace in trance music and also a part of my signature sound. You can hear some in a number of releases like Valor, The Beauty of Darkness, Scythe and grab some freebies like recent 42, Jihad or Inhuman.

The Making of: Full Moon Remix

The remix of “Full Moon” by Matthias Bishop got quite some range and positive feedback. It was also an occasion to record a video about sound design for this track. The video is my most popular episode on Youtube by far, go check it out:

Recorded back in the summer, recently edited with great (and free!) DaVinci Resolve 16. That certainly is quite an advancement since early episodes, but I won’t stop here!

The Video features Reaktor Blocks, now with awesome Toybox expansion which suddenly became my favourite tools of trade. Feels nice to use, looks great, but most importantly, sounds gorgeous. Indeed there’s something about all these “analog” and analog emulations.

The Making of: Meteor Ride

Well, my boot drive just died, so I can’t make any music this weekend. But I can post another blog about past productions 😉

The goal was simple: Create groovy, buzzy, driving and hot tune that could hit festivals. No elaborate arrangements or sound design extravaganza – jut distort everything until it burns.  I intentionally picked simple synths, Sylenth1 and Vacuum Pro, to make simple and oldschool yet effective sounds.

The making of: Ancient Dreams Remix

Back with “The making of” series. Let’s start with Ancient Dreams by James Lass, since this one was actually made back in November 2017.

The story begins just a few hours after Introscope EP got released. Delaforce Recordings made a public request for remixers on their Facebook page, and I answered quickly – at that moment with proven track record 😛 I got like 25 days for a remix, but it actually got signed 2 month later and finally released more than a year from then – this February.

Unfortunatelly Delaforce Recordings seems to be barely alive nowdays, so the only place you can hear full version are streaming serives, such as Spotify. Go check it now:
